With Easter Sunday fast approaching, The Interiors Almanac dishes up a few ideas for a contemporary family feast. If you happen to be at a loose end this weekend, fear not! The Geffrye Museum is open for visitors...

5. Herb garden. The Geffrye Museum  is open this Sunday (10am-5pm). The museum is set in converted Almshouses, each of the period rooms and gardens reflect the evolution of London homes, spanning 400 years. Free.

East London Floristry | That Flower Shop

Visiting Hattie Fox’s Florist on Shoreditch High Street is like entering a lovely potting shed in the country. It transports you to a leafy haven! This week we caught up, Hattie explains how she became a florist by happenstance. She also has a couple of Mother's day tips up her sleeve...

How long has That Flower Shop been open?

We have been open now officially for I think 3 years, but we were en route for many years before that. 

How did you become a Florist? And what's the best part of your job?

I became a Florist by accident! I moved to London when I was young and needed a job so started sweeping the floors in a flower kiosk ... I still sweep the floors - just the floors are nicer now.

Best part of my job – actually getting the time to work with the flowers and working together on events/ jobs with people who really understand our aesthetic.  

What are your favorite floral combinations?

They're always changing, every year I have a new love affair - I'm fickle when it comes to flowers. 

What do you suggest makes the perfect Mother's day gift? 

Loads and loads of rare varieties of English Narcissi and Daffodils.

Friday Forage | Fine Cell Work

This Friday’s forage profiles Fine Cell Work, a social enterprise which endeavor’s to teach prisoners the artisanal craft of creative needlework. In doing so, prisoners learn key skills of discipline and improved confidence. They also earn a living from the sampling they craft, which enables them to save for their future. 

Fine Cell Work is carried out in 20 prisons over the UK, with 300 prisoners to date. Many designers have provided designs for the trust, collaborations include; Fine artist Gavin Turk, textile designers, Cath Kidston, William Yeoward and Allegra Hicks. 

Beautifully hand crafted cushions can take up to 90 hours of work, an average of 5 months to complete.

Divine Inspiration... Maison et Objet 2014 | Best in show

Divine Inspiration! We all need a little, to break up the mid week monotony... This weeks offering, is a round up of the best in show at Maison et Objet, the Interior design fair in Paris! Ooh la la, take a look... 2014 is the year of artisanal crafts, natural materials & pastel shades.

1. Cote Bastide   

A French emporium, based in Aix en Province, which specialises in linen and fragrance of the highest quality. 

2. Utopia and Utility
These beautifully hand crafted stacking vessels were created by London based Product designer Pia Wustenberg.

3. Sfera
Water jugs, designed by creative director, Shigeo Mashiro. The Japanese design house was established in 2001, Sfera has a base in Kyoto & Milan, you can also shop online.

4. Ferm Living

This Danish home-wares company have a wholesome collection, their products range from wallpapers to kitchen utensils. Be bold with geometries and an eclectic mix of materials.
